Less than one month to go!

We have 30 days left until the wedding and I have 18 days of work until I’m off for the wedding (thank you Labor Day weekend).  It’s amazing how long ago we got engaged and how much we’ve gotten accomplished.  It’s also amazing how much we still have to do before September 12th is here.

This weekend we’re hoping to get the seating chart done along with the place cards and escort cards.  If we haven’t heard from you with your RSVP please let me know ASAP if you’re coming (and the names of any guests!).  We’re also going to make packets for each table to give to April, our Day of Coordinator so that each table is ready to go when we turn everything over to her!

I also need to compile a packet with the way each special table should be laid out (memorial table, guestbook table, etc).  We have so many things to turn over to her, I hope it’s not overwhelming!  I just want it all to be taken care of and I trust April to get it done!  My ultimate goal for the wedding day is to spend the day drinking champagne and kissing Rod!  I don’t want to have to worry about a thing.

Let’s hope these next few weeks fly by and everything goes smoothly leading up to the wedding!  :)

Ponderings

When people ask me lately, “How’s the Wedding Planning?” I don’t really know what to tell them.

We’re down to the last details, minute tasks and steps before it all happens next month.  Mentally I’m more to the marriage planning step, I want to discuss our future and where we’re going after the wedding.  Our wedding is one day to jump start the rest of our lives.  It’s one day where we get to party and celebrate our love, but at the same time I want the rest of our lives to be time where we get to celebrate our love.

To be honest, I’m actually quite terrified at how emotional that day will be.  We’re under six weeks and I’m not sure how to handle the fear, excitement and joy that will be happening that day.  I did find a blog entry that kinda sums up how I’m feeling a bit better than I could do:  http://peoniesandpolaroids.blogspot.com/2008/07/cold-toes.html

It’s also the RSVP date today, if you haven’t sent yours back then please do or I’ll be calling you!  :)

A detailed to-do list of what we have left:

  • Printing place cards
  • Writing names/tables on escort cards
  • Write thank you letters to parents
  • Finish wrapping thank you gifts for groomsmen
  • Seating chart - after all RSVPs are in
  • Paint monogram on aisle runner
  • Put together large manila envelopes for each table with place cards, matchboxes, table number and seating chart for the Day of Coordinator
  • Figure out transportation schedule and who is driving Jeep/Taurus for Wedding party

Is it September 12th yet?!?

Long time, little post

Where have I been lately?  Well aside from Chicago, fittings, Hoosier Beer Geek stuffs and just a lot going on outside of work, I’ve also taken on a few duties at my job that make it harder to post.  I promise readers I’m trying to keep up with all of it, but at times the blog takes a little bit of a back seat to what else is going on in my life.

I’m looking forward to checking off quite a few things this weekend and starting to get things wrapped up.  I’d ultimately like to be done with all my projects by the end of August so that all that is left in September is getting site decorations to vendors.  I also hope to have a bachelor/bachelorette party recap up this week shortly.  Stay tuned!

RSVP Date - August 5th

Numbers

Thanks to an idea from our Day of Coordinator, April Foster of Blu Sky Designs, and her blog I thought I’d post our wedding by the numbers.

143: the number of days until our wedding

105: the number of pocketfolders sitting on our buffet waiting to be mailed out.

93: days until our bachelor/bachelorette weekend in Chicago!

90: the number of calories in my favorite Starbucks beverage (tall skinny mocha - it’s sugar free!)

84: the high temperature today

60: the number of days until my shower in Cincinnati

34: the number of reserved seating signs I’ve made for the ceremony

30: the number of days until we make a trip to Cincinnati to see my parents and go to IKEA.

3.65: the price of gas by my house (this stinks - we’re supposed to take a trip this weekend)

Looking at it that way I need to get cracking on two things - my remaining DIY projects (programs, place cards and escort cards) and losing weight before my Cincinnati shower! haha!  Time to pick it up with the diet and exercise, now I just need to get over this cold before I crack down on it.  :)

He says he’ll marry none but the girl who fits this slipper…

Bonus points to anyone who can guess what movie that line is from.  With only 187 days left until our wedding day it’s a good thing that I found the slipper for this girl to wear.  As you know from my Chicago post, I’ve been searching for a d’orsay style pump for the ceremony.  I think I’ve finally found the ones that match my inspiration:

These are from ilovemycoastie’s knot bio and THE inspiration for my search!

I’ve tried e-bay, zappos, shoebuy, amazon and finally last night while making a quick check of amazon I found the infamous Nine West Jojus d’orsay Pumps in the apple green!

The shoes that ilovemycoastie adorned with shoe clips and made into the shoes I’ve dreamed about!

Now it’s time to find a pair of beautiful rhinestone shoe clips to go with the pumps to make them into my ultimate  wedding shoes!  This is where I need your help readers, where are some good sources for shoe clips?  I’d like to be as close to my inspiration picture as possible, so please keep that in mind but any help would be appreciated.

Looking my best

We’re at 217 days to go and it’s been a very productive time at the Harbison-Weaver household. It’s been so productive I haven’t had a chance to blog lately! Rod and I have been working on getting our invitations picked out and sending engagement announcements to the Warsaw, Cincinnati and Indianapolis papers (thanks to help from our parents). We’ve gotten registered at Crate & Barrel (look for a review in another entry); we’ve gone bridesmaid dress shopping; I’ve started my bridal workouts and I’m now looking for ways to look my best on our wedding day.

Since my dress is strapless (and we’re going to Hawaii on our honeymoon), I really need to work hard on getting myself in shape for the wedding (and I want to look great on the beach!). With one of my 30% off coupons from Borders I picked up a copy of the Women’s Health “The Wedding Workout” on DVD.

Let’s hope I can look like the model on the cover - plus I think the “bonus” content is cute!

I like that I can build my own workout using the DVD and there’s customized workouts for “strapless” (arms, shoulders and chest) or “hip-hugger” (abs & lower body) dresses. I also like that there’s segments on eating smart, how to walk in high heels and workouts scheduled for each day of the week. The only equipment the DVD uses is a set of dumbbells. Since we have three pairs I can start with 2-lb and move up as I get better at the DVD. I also figure I can start doing this when I come home from work each day to jump start the process to look my best for the wedding. Once it gets a little warmer I am looking forward to riding my bike to boost my workout level.

Another thing I’ve started to look at for my wedding and honeymoon is working on making my skin look and feel better. By working on my skin now will also fight wrinkles and other signs of aging. I found a great deal on philosophy skin care through their website on their “Makeup Optional” kit.

Here’s an artsy shot of the whole kit. The three items on the right are to be used once or twice a week. The other four items are to be used daily to improve my skin.

I’m trying to target my skin which has always given me problems. I’d like to make my skin much smoother and eliminate a lot of fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. I know I’m young, but I figure this will be one of my most photographed days in my life. I should probably try to make the most of the skin I have that day. I’d also like to work against breakouts and work on making my skin look better with as little makeup as possible. It’s amazing what happens to a woman when you put that ring on her finger! haha!

Today I went bridesmaid dress shopping with Erin and she found a really great one, I’m so glad to be down to just one more bridesmaid that needs her dress ordered. We also went ahead and had the shop order the two dresses for the bridesmaids that have already picked their dresses. Since we have dresses coming from all over I’m not worried about the dye lots not matching.

Imagine that in clover - isn’t she going to look great? :D

It was so good to see Erin and get to discuss some of the plans for programs and all the other paper goods for the wedding. I’m really looking forward to putting together the invitations and starting to work on the programs. I can’t wait for our “retreat” in June with Rick and Pat! If anyone is interested in our first engagement announcement online it’s here (Warsaw Times-Union).

In short, what are some ways you’ve wanted to get in shape for your wedding day or look your best?

Eight Months and Five Days…

How crazy is that?!?  Last night we were reviewing honeymoon options and I think we might be settled.  All I can say until we have everything booked is that it’s going to involve penguins!  ;)
