Centerpieces can set the mood for your reception, but they also can make conversation awkward or restrict views of the rest of the reception space. With this in mind I’ve begun the task of finding centerpieces to match our reception location. The space is very modern and minimalistic so I don’t want to overpower the impressive architecture with anything too crazy or overdone.
When I first started planning our wedding day I was looking for brightly colored centerpieces with lots of “pop”. I wasn’t exactly sure how to get that, so I started looking through the millions (slight exaggeration? maybe? ) of pictures on The Knot to find a few perfect looks. I tried many times to find something that I could send to our florist and have her recreate. I’ve never been much of a flower person, other than calla lilies and gerbera daisies, so I didn’t really know where to begin. I had Rod help me by going through (since he’s much more picky than I am) and picking out ones that he would be comfortable with on our wedding day. Here’s what he came up with:

Gerbera daisies (all pictures from The Knot), these are a taller look, not sure if it would be hard to see around or not.

A very low, simple piece using square vases.

This one is tall and uses calla lilies, but is slim enough that people can still see around it.

I love the spider mums, so fun and so unique!

I love the galvanized pot and how it’s tall, but you can see around it and through it!
With these options I liked bits and pieces of each, but wasn’t quite sold on just one of them. I started researching more options and found this on our florist’s website:
I’m in love. If we could just change the flowers to green Spider Mums and pink Gerbera Daisies it would be perfect (picture from the Baysore’s Flowers website).
Obviously we have some big decisions to make with regard to centerpieces, but I’d like to get all of the florals checked off my list soon!
What are some unique centerpiece ideas that you have found?
