Long time no post - sorry about that! We are still around we’re just SO busy it’s hard to keep up!
Our vacation in a nutshell was relaxing. We did two nights on Sanibel Island on the gulf coast and then six nights in Fort Lauderdale. I managed to maintain the 11 pound weight loss by not going out of control on vacation and also trying to keep up on my running. Here’s a recap via iPhone photo dump!
Post-long run breakfast in Sanibel.
View from the condo balcony around sunrise in Sanibel.
Bringing the cereal mess to breakfast in Sanibel and topped off with fresh blueberries.
View from the 22nd floor after checking into our hotel in Fort Lauderdale.
Sunrise over the Atlantic from the hotel room after my 4 mile sunrise run.
Vanilla Cupcake soft serve with strawberries and kiwi. The best I’ve ever had and only 100 calories!
Our view from the 6th floor pool each day when relaxing in the mornings before heading up to lunch!
Such a tasty beer and I loved how much fun the lobster looked like he was having.
So everytime we mentioned A1A (beachfront avenue) Rod and I would break into Ice Ice Baby. It might have been cheesy (and involved us looking up lyrics sites on our iPhones but we had a good time with it!
Our view from dinner our last night in Florida. The bartender at the hotel next to ours recommended asking for second floor balcony at a restaurant and we lucked out on the seats closest to the ocean!
All in all it was a great vacation and was a perfect relaxing time before grad school starts in a couple of weeks! Now I’m just trying to ease back into things at work and home.
We spent a day at the state fair a couple weekends back. In addition to spending time with a variety of barnyard animals, we also enjoyed fried green tomatoes, a corndog, fried cheese, white milk, a vanilla milkshake, honey lemonade and a sugar-free lemon shake-up. That’s a lot of food! Here are some pictures of the non-food related ways we spent our day.

This past weekend was great, I was off starting at 11:30 on the 2nd and won’t be going back until this afternoon!
We started off the weekend with a tapping at Rock Bottom and drinks at both Buffalo Wild Wings and Scotty’s Brewhouse in downtown Indy on Thursday night. On Friday we had lunch at Creation Cafe and picked up a few items at Goose the Market for a delicious dinner of steamed mussels, crusty bread and beers.

Scotty’s Brewhouse has a great Outdoor Patio

The patio has a great view of downtown and Chase Tower!

We started the mussels by sweating the vegetables.

We cleaned the mussels and discarded any open ones.

Caroline was completely bored with the process.

Mario was just tired and wanted a nap!

We steamed everything together for the sauce.

To thicken the sauce and avoid using heavy cream we pureed a few mussels to make the dipping sauce.

Why hello there - what is this?

We topped with the sauce and served with crusty bread. A TOTAL success!
It was a great weekend including a stop in Cincinnati to pour beer for the City of Montgomery’s Fourth of July Festival. I hope everyone had a safe July 4th and a great long weekend!
a GREAT BIG BEAR - a way up there! Just kidding - when we went camping we didn’t see any bears.
A few weekends ago we went camping during one of the biggest storms of the summer! It was lots of good conversation and lots of good food. The weather was really hot and really humid but I would recommend Morgan-Monroe State Forest for anyone looking to go camping in Indiana.
A few pictures from our weekend:

Nothing beats bacon, eggs and coffee while camping!

Mario was never that thrilled about the trip and he was a tick magnet!

The Outback ended up looking like it was in a car advertisement!

We were most proud of our fire that we were able to start after the rain!
Morgan-Monroe was a great place to go camping and we had a really relaxing weekend. The trails were great and the only downside was how hot and sticky the weekend was after the storm rolled through Friday night. I can’t wait to go again and take advantage of cooler temperatures!
Today was a very busy and productive Sunday at the Harbison Weaver Household!
We washed the baseboards, did laundry, swiffered the first floor, mopped the third floor bathroom, cleaned the third floor shower, did laundry, mowed the lawn, cleaned up the patio, cleaned the stove, cleaned the kitchen, put pictures up on the book case, cleared out from under the buffet, cleaned behind/under the liquor cabinet, washed the dog beds and changed the sheets on the guest room bed. :D Phew! That’s a lot!
A few pictures of our day:

Here’s the bookshelf with Germany pictures and all filled up!

The beginnings of dinner.

With as busy as we were today we had to set the table for dinner!

Our delicious dinner of seared ahi tuna and tomato, cucumber, orange bell pepper, onion and lemon soy ginger dressing. YUM!
All in all a very busy and tiring day topped off with a relaxing dinner. I hope everyone is having a great weekend and is gearing up for the 4th of July!
We kicked off the weekend on Thursday night with grilling out, hanging out with the dogs, taking a long walk and relaxing. It was the perfect start to our 4th of July weekend!

Mario was a little shy still on Thursday!
On Friday we went to Cincinnati to pour beer at the City of Montgomery’s 4th of July Festival. Mario got to meet his Grandma and Grandpa and got a quick sniffing of his cousins before we headed back to Indy. For dinner we grilled pizza, watched the downtown Freedom Blast from our front yard and Rod visited with our neighbors.
Saturday was a big day for Mario - his first vet visit! Everything went well there, and so we dropped him off back at home and ran a few errands. We picked up a new bed for him and put the two of them next to each other.

His is so much bigger than Caroline’s bed, it’s so cute!
We took the pups to Three Dog Bakery and then took them for a stroll up and down Mass Ave. We came back for dinner and the pups seemed exhausted - they were so tired from all the excitement of the 4th and their trip to Three Dog Bakery.
Yesterday after breakfast we walked down to Henry’s on East with the pups and had lunch with John. The dogs were so exhausted after the 3.5 mile walk to Henrys that we were given a perfect chance to brew our Alefest Kolsch kit that we had purchased in April! After brewing Rod cut the grass and we had a great dinner of goose burgers - burgers with bacon and all kinds of yummy spices. We gave the pups a bath (Caroline was quite doggy smelling) which with two dogs is quite the feat! We fed the pups “Pupcakes” from Three Dog Bakery as their reward for being good during their bath and then hung out around the house. It was a very busy, but very relaxing weekend for us and I am happy to say I didn’t stress out about the wedding one bit!

Our “kids” fresh after their bath. Apologies for my hair - I just let it air dry after my shower (after the trip to Henry’s)!
This week will hopefully be pretty slow, with plenty of time to get a few wedding projects wrapped up. We’re hoping to get programs, table numbers and the aisle runner taken care of this week and I have my meeting with the hair stylist on Sunday!

That’s right kids, the Harbison-Weaver household is growing by one! No we’re not pregnant, we adopted a 2 year old Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix from the Indianapolis Humane Society.
He was previously named Mr. Lemon, but we’re renaming him Mr. Mariano. Right now though, he doesn’t really answer to much of anything!
We had a busy night last night introducing the two dogs, giving Mr. Mari a bath and just seeing how they interact together. He’s fairly potty trained, but we’re dealing with territory issues and that he’s not completely comfortable around the house yet. They did curl up together last night and snuggle so we can see them getting close in the future.

Don’t they look precious together? :) Let’s just hope Mr. Mariano and Caroline can get along!
Last night our neighborhood hosted it’s summer meeting with a visit from the Storytelling Arts of Indiana. It was held in the park on Alabama and we had a wonderful picnic dinner. A few pictures:

On the way back we ran into some new neighbors who were just moving into one of the houses down the street and chatted a bit with them. All in all it was a great Monday night which made us want to go on more picnics!
